Yes it could. But more important than the carat weight is the diameter measurements. It is important that the cushion cut be as close to “square” as possible - not rectangular. The length should be as close to the width as possible. An elongated cushion will not work.
Additionally, because cushion cuts are not round but more pillow shaped they will have a smaller diameter than a round of the same carat weight. So they don’t appear as large. To get the same width you need to go a little heavier weight. A 1.20ct size would work best.
