No we did not remove the diamond to send it to GIA. The diamond is the original one from about 1920 era, and we didn't want to damage the ring by removing the diamond. Also, we don't generally sell GIA certified diamonds that are smaller than .50ct. The reason is the cost is about $100 and pushes the price of the diamond up too much to the customer, since we have to add that cost in. But the diamond is graded by a GIA Graduate Gemologist. And if you request it, you can get a free insurance appraisal. The ring also is in amazing condition considering it was made about 90-100 years ago!
